Getting students outside the classroom is a fantastic way to supplement their learning in an experiential manner. Spending time outdoors has been shown to help with attention and behavioral problems; it is also important in the development of healthy children. School experiences in the outdoors can take on many forms. In this group we encourage you to share and explore the many ways you have found to enrich student life through the introduction of the great outdoors.

Is your school lucky enough to have a garden? How do you manage the chores, what do you do with the produce? Has your science class has success with compost, or even vermicompost? This is the group in which to share those tips. Does you school have a green playground, or natural spaces on its campus? How do you incorporate outdoor time into your lesson plans?

Games that teach environmental literacy

Can anyone share some good outdoor games with environmental themes?

I teach a class on the weekends and have the opportunity to get the kids out of the city for a field trip. I want to make our time worthwhile!
