Games that teach environmental literacy
Can anyone share some good outdoor games with environmental themes?
I teach a class on the weekends and have the opportunity to get the kids out of the city for a field trip. I want to make our time worthwhile!

If you are teaching elementary age kids, a nature scavenger hunt can be fun. Give students a box and a list of 10-20 items to find (something fuzzy, something sharp, something smelly, something beautiful, something fragile, etc). After everyone has collected their items share with the whole class. Its a great way to appreciate nature in all its forms.

I'm not sure what your age group is, but when I was young, I enjoyed making rubbings of different elements in nature. Give kids some paper, let them choose their favorite colored crayon, and let them loose to find the mos interesting patterns. It can be tree bark, stones, or leaves (always my favorite). Or they could just sketch something.
